MAIN COURSE

Pay $99 a month to live in the matrix 👓 👀

On Tuesday, Snap unveiled its fifth-generation AR glasses. They offer voice-controlled AR filters and integration with OpenAI's AI models.

What do they do?

They overlay AR effects on your surroundings, controlled by voice and gestures. You can generate AI images as filters or chat with Snap's AI about what you see.

How much do they cost?

$99 per month with a 12-month commitment, but only for developers initially.

Any cool features?

Built-in apps include a beatboxing game, a golf simulator, and a virtual pet experience. They run on Snap's new AR-focused OS.

Any downsides?

They're heavier than competitors at 226 grams, with only 45 minutes of battery life.

Who's Snap partnering with?

LEGO, Lucasfilm's ILM, Niantic, and notably, OpenAI for advanced AI integration.

When can I get them?

There’s no consumer launch date yet. Snap's focusing on building a developer ecosystem first.

What else did they launch?

SIDE SALAD

Google labels AI images 🖼️ 🔍

On Tuesday, Google announced plans to integrate the C2PA 2.1 standard. This move aims to boost transparency around AI-generated content in its key products.

What is C2PA?

It's the Content Credentials’ authentication standard, developed by the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity.

How will Google use it?

In Search, the “About this image” feature will show if an image was AI-created or edited. For Ads, C2PA signals will help enforce policies.

When will this happen?

The rollout of Google Search and Ads will occur over the coming months.

Why is this significant?

Given Google's dominant market share, this could rapidly accelerate C2PA adoption across the digital landscape.

What's the broader impact?

Content creators may face pressure to implement C2PA, while users might expect provenance info as a trust marker.

Any other plans?

Google is exploring ways to relay C2PA info for content captured with cameras on YouTube.

SWEET DESSERT

Your film degree is garbage 🎥 🔥

Last week, Adobe unveiled its upcoming Firefly Video Model. This AI-powered tool aims to revolutionize video creation for professionals.

What's new in Firefly Video Model?

It introduces three key features:

  1. Text to Video: Generate clips from text prompts

  2. Image to Video: Transform stills into live-action

  3. Generative Extend: Add AI-generated footage to existing clips

Where will Generative Extend be used?

It'll be integrated directly into Adobe Premiere Pro.

Is it safe for commercial use?

Adobe claims it's trained only on licensed content, not customer data.

When can I use it?

The beta is set to launch later this year.
