MAIN COURSE

GPT’s gonna getcha getcha getcha… 🤖 🔎

On Thursday, OpenAI launched SearchGPT. It’s an AI-powered search engine.

What does it do?

It gives you direct responses to searches, cites its sources, allows you to ask follow-up questions, and more.

So SEO’s dead?

Nah. OpenAI claims SearchGPT drives traffic to content creators' sites. It contains tools that let you manage how your site appears in search results.

What’s the point?

The goal is to put OpenAI in competition with Google and emerging AI search startups.

Can I use it now?

It’s currently in limited testing, with plans to integrate successful features into ChatGPT in the future.

SIDE SALAD

Bot = mathlete? 🦾 🤖

On Thursday, Google DeepMind unveiled AlphaProof and AlphaGeometry 2. They’re AI models that scored a silver at the International Mathematical Olympiad.

How'd it do that?

The system, combining AlphaProof and AlphaGeometry 2, solved 4 out of 6 problems. It scored 28 out of 42 points, just shy of gold medal territory.

Is it smarter than humans?

Not quite. 58 of 609 human contestants still outperformed it and reached gold medal level.

What's special about this AI?

AlphaProof uses game-like strategies to approach math problems. AlphaGeometry 2 solved one IMO problem in just 19 seconds.

Can I use it to do my math homework?

Nah. This is still experimental tech aimed at pushing the boundaries of AI reasoning capabilities.

What's next?

Google DeepMind plans to release more details on AlphaProof soon, and continues exploring AI approaches for mathematical reasoning.
