Microsoft’s new AI = 100% more ‘meh‘ 🤷‍♂️ 🔍

On Monday, Microsoft announced updates to OneDrive. These include improved search, a new mobile app, and widespread Copilot integration.

What's new with search?

It’s faster, more intuitive, and uses enhanced filters. You’ll be able to search across OneDrive, shared libraries, and your teammates' folders.

Any desktop improvements?

Windows users get colored folders support in File Explorer and SharePoint document libraries are also being updated for “better performance.”

What about the mobile app?

It's getting a photos-first redesign with natural language image search. This allows you to find photos using phrases like “Sophia and her dog on a boat.”

When can I use these?

The features are rolling out to all commercial customers by the end of 2024.

On Monday, Adobe announced its Content Credentials web app. It claims to help you protect their work and control its use in AI training.

What is it?

It’s a tool that adds metadata to images, videos, and audio files that’s launching in beta early next year. You can add information and creation details to your content, apply credentials in bulk, and opt out of AI training datasets.

How does it protect my work?

It uses digital fingerprinting, invisible watermarking, and cryptographic metadata to keep credentials intact even if stripped during distribution.

Are there tools to verify credentials?

Yes, Adobe is introducing an Inspect tool and a Google Chrome extension to verify Content Credentials online.

Who's supporting this initiative?

The Content Authenticity Initiative has over 3,700 partners, with platforms like LinkedIn already displaying credential pins.

Do you need an Adobe subscription to use it?

Nope, and it’s free.
