Yesterday, Microsoft and Anduril Industries announced a partnership. The goal is to upgrade the U.S. Army's mixed-reality headsets, known as IVAS.

What is IVAS?

It stands for Integrated Visual Augmentation System. It’s based on Microsoft's HoloLens technology.

What does Anduril bring to the table?

Its Lattice software pulls in data from various sources to alert wearers of threats.

Will this really help soldiers?

It aims to enhance visual and auditory perception and give soldiers “superman-like” vision.

Does it work?

Early versions caused headaches and nausea, but Microsoft has since refined the design.

How big is this project?

The IVAS program could be worth up to $21.9 billion over its planned 10-year lifespan.

Who's behind Anduril?

Palmer Luckey, the founder of Oculus VR, with backing from tech billionaire Peter Thiel.

What else have they done?

A video generation model, perhaps?

You bet. It's getting Google DeepMind's Veo model, which allows you to create more complex AI-generated backgrounds in your Shorts.

So I can make full videos with AI?

Veo will let creators generate 6-second video clips to fill gaps or complement Shorts.

Will my viewers know my content is AI-generated?

AI clips will be watermarked with SynthID and labeled as AI-generated.
