Last Tuesday, Amazon launched drone deliveries in Phoenix, Arizona. The service operates from their Tolleson Same-Day Delivery site in the West Valley.
What's new here?
The MK30 drones can fly twice as far as previous models and are 50% quieter, delivering packages under 5 pounds in less than an hour.
What can I order?
About 50,000 items qualify, including household essentials, beauty products, and tech accessories.
Any limitations?
The drones won't deliver during heavy rain, in high winds, or at night.
How does it work?
Customers in eligible areas can select drone delivery at checkout, with items flying directly from the Tolleson facility.
Why Phoenix?
Mayor Kate Gallego praised the program as advancing zero-emission delivery and cementing Phoenix's position as an innovation hub.
Why do I care?
It marks a rebound for Amazon's drone program, which faced previous challenges including noise complaints and regulatory hurdles.
