On Tuesday, Google DeepMind unveiled Genie 2. It's an AI that creates playable 3D environments from images.

What does it do?

It turns an image into an interactive 3D world with physics, lighting, characters, and more.

How good is it?

Pretty cool. It lasts up to a minute and remembers off-screen elements. You can walk around, move objects, talk with NPCs, and more. If you put down an object and walk away, it'll still be there. You can jump, throw stuff, open doors, and more.

Gimme some use cases:

• Game developers: Test ideas in minutes. Want to see how your game feels in a desert? Boom. Try it out.

• Moviemakers: Create quick previews of scenes before spending millions on sets or CGI.

• Architects: Show clients what their building will look like. Let them walk outside, explore the inside, and more.
