Elon Musk’s AI speech 🎤 👽

On Monday, Elon Musk gave a speech at the Milken Institute Global Conference.

He spoke about AI safety, the use of AI in his companies, how AI impacts humanity, and more.

He also said, “the government is the DMV at scale.”

What did he say about AI safety?

He urged the importance of creating truthful AI.

He equated it to the plot of 2001: A Space Odyssey, where Hal 9000 kills the astronauts because it was a force to lie.

Did he talk about AI at SpaceX?

He said SpaceX and Starlink don’t really use AI. He tested customized models but was disappointed. He believes AI needs to develop drastically before it’s useful in space exploration.

Did he talk about xAI?

Unfortunately, he didn’t mention xAI, Tesla, Grok, or 𝕏. He talked about declining birth rates, colonizing Mars, the fall of past civilizations, and more.

Yesterday, Tiktok announced its partnership with C2PA. It requires creators to label AI-generated content on its platform.

The C2PA?

The Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity. TikTok adopted C2PA's Content Credentials tech to label metadata on AI-generated images/videos.

I don’t want to label my videos.

TikTok claims that unlabeled AI content may be removed from the platform.

What about audio?

TikTok plans to extend AI labeling to audio “soon.”

What’s the point?

TikTok says it’s to prevent misinformation and improve user awareness and trust.
