Grandma bot tortures scammers👵

Imagine this. A clueless, chatty granny with a tendency to wander into stories about her poodle’s arthritis and the joys of English toffee is on the line.

On the other end? 

A stone-cold scammer, desperately trying to pry bank details out of her. He’s slick. He’s prepared. He’s got a script. And guess what? He’s about to completely lose his mind.

British telecom giant O2 unveiled Daisy. She’s no ordinary grandma. She’s a weaponized Grandma bot who just. Won’t. Shut. Up. Her entire mission is to waste the absolutely living hell out of scammers’ time.

How does Daisy combat scams?

She spits out “40-minute” calls of pure confusion, stray anecdotes about grandkids, and a slow, meandering verbal buffet of nonsense until the scammer inevitably cracks. One guy actually shouted, “Stop calling me dear, you stupid (expletive!),” as Daisy playfully deflected with a cheerful “Got it, dear.”

Hilarious. How does it work?

If you spot a suspicious call, forward it to O2’s number (7726) and Daisy shows up to the party.

What’s under the hood?

Daisy has a custom LLM “personality layer” that makes her sound authentic, context-aware, and just a tad forgetful. It runs 24/7 without human intervention.

Are scams a big issue in the UK?

Yupp. O2 blocked over 300 million bucks in suspected fraud last year. 67% of adults are worried about scams, and 22% get these calls every week.
