Yesterday, Boston Dynamic unveiled its new Atlas robot. It’s an all-electric, humanoid robot that replaced the hydraulic version of Atlas.
It’s got… Atlas-tude… 😜
What is that thing?
Atlas is a general-purpose robot designed for a wide range of tasks. It has two highly versatile hands that allow it to easily manipulate heavy/complex objects.
What’s the point?
Boston Dynamics plans to partner with Hyundai to test Atlas in real-world situations.
"We're going to be doing experiments with Hyundai on-site, beginning next year. To make this successful, you have to have a lot more than just cool tech. You really have to understand that use case, you've got to have sufficient productivity to make investment in a robot worthwhile"
What’s so great about it?
The electric Atlas features a broader range of motion, increased strength, and improved agility compared to its predecessor. It features new software, Orbit, that enhances its functionality and operational capability.
Rise and Shine, Atlas:
I recognize that name.
Back in October, we covered Boston Dynamics’ robot dog named Spot. It does parkour, runs, jumps, talks, and more.

SIDE SALAD
Amazon totally didn’t copy Spotify 🎹 🎶
On Tuesday, Amazon Music launched Maestro. It’s an AI-powered playlist generator for U.S. customers on iOS and Android.
It’s a maestro-piece… 🤭
What’s Maestro-ing on here?
It allows you to generate a custom-tailored playlist from text prompts that can include text, emojis, emotions, activities, or sounds.
Like what?
Here are some examples from Amazon:
How do I make AI playlists?
You might not be able to, yet. Maestro is launching in beta for select users in the U.S. on mobile. More users will gain access over time.
Didn’t Spotify release AI playlists about a week ago?
Indeed. Click here for more info.
Amazon’s been busy lately.
Indeed. In January, we covered Amazon’s Diffuse to Choose tool. It allows you to virtually try on clothing.
In February, we reported on Amazon’s Rufus. It’s an AI shopping assistant on its mobile app that’s named after Amazon’s mascot.
Last month, we covered Amazon’s released a tool for sellers. It allows you to create complete product listings from a website URL.
A LITTLE SOMETHING EXTRA
Romance is gross. Date a bot 😳 ❤️ 💻
Last week, Greg Isenberg predicted a billion-dollar AI girlfriend industry. The tech exec met a man who spends $10,000 a month on AI girlfriends.
Really…?
You bet. Candy.ai, Replika, and Kupid.ai are just some of the many apps that offer these interactions. You can communicate via realistic voice notes, customize their likes/dislikes, and more.
Who’s using these things?
According to an Infobib study, almost 20% of Americans have flirted with AI bots. 47.2% were curious, and about 24% were seeking companionship. About 17% claimed they didn’t know they were talking to a chatbot.
Why would you want an AI girlfriend?
They’ve become more popular due to factors like curiosity, loneliness, and more. Depending on the platform, you can have casual chats, romantic interactions, and more. Some platforms even offer erotic role-play.
What platforms? Er… for science?
Nomi.ai and Soulmate allow you to specify what your AI girlfriend wears, how open they are to “sexting,” if they’re submissive or dominant, and more.
