MAIN COURSE

Psst... AI stole your job 🧠 🎨

On Sunday, Adobe unveiled Project Concept. It's a new AI-powered tool designed to enhance creative brainstorming and ideation.

What is Project Concept?

It’s an AI-first tool for rapid idea generation, asset mixing, and style remixing, built on Adobe's Firefly AI models.

What does it actually do?

It allows you to create moodboards using generated images based on your ideas, helps you mix and remix images in real-time, lets you explore different visual styles quickly, and more.

What problems does it solve?

It allegedly reduces time spent on mundane production tasks, enables a broader exploration of creative possibilities, and helps you overcome tight deadline pressures.

Is it integrated with other Adobe tools?

Yes, it's designed to work seamlessly with Creative Cloud apps like Photoshop, Illustrator, and Adobe Express.

When will it be available?

It's still in the early testing stages, with a private beta release coming soon.

The fastest way to build AI apps

We’re excited to introduce Writer AI Studio, the fastest way to build AI apps, products, and features. Writer’s unique full-stack design makes it easy to prototype, deploy, and test AI apps – allowing developers to build with APIs, a drag-and-drop open-source Python framework, or a no-code builder, so you have flexibility to build the way you want.

Writer comes with a suite of top-ranking LLMs and has built-in RAG for easy integration with your data. Check it out if you’re looking to streamline how you build and integrate AI apps.

SIDE SALAD

Boom. Headshot... But it’s AI 🎮 🤤

On Thursday, Microsoft researchers showcased DIAMOND. It’s an AI model that simulates Counter-Strike: Global Offensive's Dust II map entirely within a neural network.

What did they do?

They trained an AI to replicate CS:GO gameplay on the Dust II map using only footage from Deathmatch mode.

How well does it perform?

It runs at only 10 FPS, which is far from playable for competitive gaming.

So, otherwise, it’s perfect?

No, it has several glitches. Some of these include infinite jumping (AI doesn't understand gravity), weapons morph in certain lighting conditions, you can phase through walls, and more.

Why do I care?

This demonstrates AI's growing ability to simulate complex, copyrighted games without access to the original code.

Is this practical for gaming?

Nah. The real game runs much faster on cheaper hardware.
